  • Whoever has to become a Naga monk is first tested for celibacy in the arena here. It can take 6 months and can take 12 years.


  • When the Guru of Akhada feels that his disciple is completely ready, only then the Guru starts teaching him further.


  • It is not that only men can become Naga Sadhus, but women can also become Naga Sadhus and especially women from other countries have also become Naga Sadhus.


  • To become a Naga monk, first of all, you have to cut the hair completely, later dip 108 times in the river Ganges and take a bath and then later teach five masters. He then has to perform his own Shraddha Karma, which causes him to die for his family and society. After doing the pindadan in this way he becomes a monk of the arena.


  • After this method, the person is given the Guru Mantra and then later his entire life has to be given for the same Guru Mantra.


  • After becoming a Naga monk, all kinds of clothes have to be sacrificed, but if someone desires, he can wear a brown cloth.

  • Naga sadhus can eat food only once a day. Naga monks may ask for alms but they can only ask for alms in seven houses. If they do not get anything from these seven houses in alms, then they have to stay hungry all day.


  • Naga monks especially pay special attention to their tilak. All Naga sadhus apply the same tilak every day.


  • Most of the Naga Sadhus are seen only in the Kumbh Mela. As soon as the Kumbamela is over, all the Naga sadhus go away. All Naga monks travel through the forest.

  • All women have to practice celibacy for 6 to 12 years before becoming a Naga monk. By doing this, a woman becomes successful only then she can become a Naga monk.


  • The woman has to sacrifice herself before becoming a Naga monk. To become a Naga monk, a woman has to first cut all her hair and then, according to tradition, has to bathe in the river.


  • Winning honour is given to a male Naga Sadhu, as much as it is given to a female Naga Sadhu.


  • The only difference between the female Naga Sadhu and the male Naga Sadhu is that the female Naga Sadhu can wear yellow coloured clothes. All the female monks stand on the forehead and wear yellow clothes.


  • The task of making the woman a monk has been entrusted to Acharya Mahamandaleshwar.


  • Due to the woman's entire life being devoted to God, she has to pray to God at the beginning of the day and also at the end of the day.


NOTE - When a woman becomes a Naga monk, then all the sadhus call her mother.
